accented characters in attribute name

In a script used to generate a matrix, i have code :

        sIdentTest = othero."Référence_Test_Parent"

When i use the script from module menu : Tools -> Edit DXL... all is OK.

In formalFilesELTA.dxl I created a menu to call this script. When the same script is used by the menu i have an error :

unknown Object attribute (Rfrence_Test_Parent).

In this case it don't see accentued characters in the attribute name  !!

????????????????

Pierre

PS : system page code = 1252

Thanks,

convert script in UTF8 is the solution, with or without  'ragma encoding, "UTF-8"

But I do not understand the difference of ways of functioning following the mode of call of the script.

Best regards

Pierre

every text editor must know how to store a character like è. There is no way for the editor to "guess" which encoding you want to use. An ANSI è is 0xE8, a UTF-8 è is 0xc3a8.

E.g. Notepad.exe of Windows XP always stores the characters as ANSI. In Notepad of Windows 7, there is a drop down box directly besides the "save" button which asks you for the encoding.

DXL Editor always uses UTF-8 encoding. Here you have no choice but store it "correctly", as DOORS expects it.

In every other editor you have to ensure that you choose the correct encoding when saving files

Mike
